Two armed men wearing masks attacked a pub in Ruscombe, injuring two members of staff before leaving empty handed.
The men entered the Royal Oak pub in Ruscombe Lane at about 11.53pm on Wednesday and forced a woman to the floor, striking her several times with an object believed to be a baton.
The second man, carrying a taser, struggled with another worker at the pub before police were called.
The two members of staff were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.
Det Sgt Carl Bradford said: “This was obviously a very frightening ordeal for the two courageous members of staff and I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward as soon as possible and speak to us."
The offenders left the scene by the rear of the pub empty handed and may have travelled to the Milton Road area.
Police recovered the taser device at the scene.
Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Bradford via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
