Vandalism cases halved

By Victoria Smith
April 11, 2012

Nuisance behaviour and vandalism in Memorial Park and Shepherd Meadows in Sandhurst is down by 50 per cent compared to last year, crime figures show.

Figures published by police show there were 24 reports of problem behaviour this year, compared to 40 reports the year before.

Police say the neighbourhood police team’s Operation Lion Club, which sees increased patrols over weekends and bank holidays at hotspots, has contributed to the huge drop in anti-social behaviour.

PSCO Alastair Willcocks, neighbourhood officer for College Town and Owlsmoor, said: “A combination of higher visibility, a good relationship with the Memorial Park caretaker and residents reporting incidents, has enabled us to respond faster.”
