Flipping great effort at pancake raceBy Caroline Cook

SLIPS, falls and a pair of loose trousers made for an entertaining pancake race at a Twyford garden centre.
Teams made up of staff members battled it out to be crowned the winners of the tasty race at Hare Hatch Sheeplands in London Road on Saturday, February 18.
Crowds gathered to watch a tense race between the Chocolate Champions and the Lemon Leapers as they raced around the plant centre car park.
But the Lemon Leapers had a stroke of bad luck when a team member’s trousers fell down causing their bid to win the race to ground to a halt.
The Chocolate Champions stormed to victory with coffee shop workers Georgie Smith and Jeff Hunt winning the race.
Shopper Sheila Lobley from Penrose Avenue in Woodley was particularly pleased as her name was drawn from a raffle of people who had supported the Chocolate Champions.
More than 450 pancakes were also served to shoppers during the day in return for a small donation to charity.
Around £200 was collected and will be shared between Parkinson’s UK and Twyford Charities Together.
The fun was also repeated on Shrove Tuesday with more funds being raised for charity.
