Steve Murray said: “He had the attributes not only of a great teacher but of a great human being.
“He was universally respected and adored and this was because he showed these same qualities towards us.
“Mr Holyer was always ready to join in the banter with his dry, razor sharp wit all the while actually still managing to get enough information into our adolescent heads to pass an exam on the repeal of the corn laws.
“I will never forget you and all you did for my friends and me.”
Rob, from North Carolina in America, said: “Mr Holyer was a true friend and mentor,
“He was one of the most inspirational men I have ever had the honour of meeting.

Former pupil Conor Giles said: “Thank you for all the mentoring you gave me, and the support you gave everyone. But most of all, thank you for being an absolute legend.”
Niall Fearon, who attended The Forest School, said: “Teachers have a great responsibility and value but it is not often enough said what great work they do. Mr Holyer literally changed people lives and by every meaning of the word he is a true teacher.”
Karen Tait, who has a son at The Forest School, said: “My son, now in Year 11, was taught by you in Year Nine.
“He said mum you need to see him at parents night he is a legend and I believe you are after meeting you.”
