OAP’s death an accident

July 30, 2010

A Woodley pensioner was unable to recall having any headaches or falls after he suffered a fractured skull which led to him dying from a brain haemorrhage, an inquest heard.

William Weller, better known as Bill, was found in a disorientated state in his kitchen in Arundel Road by a neighbour during the heavy snowfall earlier this year.

An inquest at Reading Civic Centre on Tuesday heard he was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital where a CT scan revealed a large subdural haemorrhage.

Mr Weller’s cousin Iris Ager spoke to him but in the few days before his death but he had not mentioned any headache or fall.

He died on January 16. A post-mortem examination found he had suffered a fractured skull.

Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford recorded a verdict of accidental death.
