Woodley man charged with stealing from cars

A 39-year-old Woodley man has been charged with stealing items from cars.

Jason Bent, from Kingfisher Drive, was arrested by police yesterday and appeared before Reading Magistrates’ Court later the same day charged with three offences which took place on Saturday.

Between 3pm and 9.30pm sunglasses and shoes were stolen from a blue Peugeot 206 parked in Nightingale Road, Woodley, while between 3pm and 3.35pm a CD player was stolen from a white Vauxhall Corsa which had also been broken into in the same street.  

A holdall bag and MP3 player was then stolen from a blue Peugeot 106 parked in Lytham Road, Woodley, some time between 3pm and 3.35pm.

Bent has been remanded in custody until his next appearance before magistrates on Tuesday, August 3.

A trial date has been set at Reading Crown Court for Wednesday, September 8.
