Retired teacher celebrates 101 years

July 28, 2010

Retired teacher Dorothy Clarke celebrated her 101st birthday on Monday last week.

Miss Clarke, who lives off Bath Road, Reading, who has never married and has no children, devoted much of her life to her teaching and worked right up to the age of 80 at The Palmer School in Wokingham.

Her live-in carer Aimee-Marguerite Bau Nasako, from Kcare nursing agency, who shares the role of carer with Amanda Mnguni, celebrated the big day with her.

Miss Clarke’s only living relative, Nick Hams from Bracknell, said: “She has always had a really strong belief in her faith and that’s what has helped her reach that sort of age.”
