Water lot of fun on the river

July 26, 2010

Young people made a splash on Sunday when they enjoyed messing about on the river at a fun day.

The fifth Big Splash event saw local children form teams and take part in katakanu races at Wokingham Waterside Centre at Thames Valley Business Park.

The event is organised by Wokingham’s community wardens and offers youngsters the chance to take part in boat races while learning lessons about being safe on the water.

Younger children who attended the centre could take part in other fun activities, including a bouncy castle, face painting and slide. There was also circus entertainment from the Circus Scene team.

Borough mayor Councillor Dianne King presented prizes to the winning team, the Eustace Devils, who are pictured seated at the front of the group picture.

Cllr King said: “They learned some valuable lessons on water safety during the day and I enjoyed presenting the prizes to the race winners.”
