A seven-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after he suffered head injuries in a three car crash in Wokingham last night.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Easthampstead Road, close to its junction with Heathlands Road, just after 5pm following reports of a crash involving a green Volkswagen Polo, a black Mini One and a blue Peugeot 305.

The trapped youngster had to be rescued from one of the vehicles by firefighters from Wokingham and Crowthorne fire stations using cutting and stabilising equipment.

He was then flown to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.

Another person involved in the collision was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

The road was closed by police for more than three hours and was re-opened at 8.30pm.
