By Caroline Cook
July 05, 2010

A main Woodley road is closed for 11 weeks for essential gas main works.

Loddon Bridge Road is closed between the Fosters Lane and Headley Road junctions.

The works were due to begin next Monday but have begun early.

Drivers will be diverted via Headley Road East, Spitfire Way, Miles Way, The Bader Way, the ac-cess road to the A329(M)/A3290 and the southern section of Loddon Bridge Road.

Access for residents and business within the closed section will be maintained during the closures.

It is expected the work will be completed by Saturday, September 18.

Would be good if they finished one lot of digging up Woodley, before they went onto the next. Does this whole road really need to be closed for 11 weeks-surely not!

you have to wonder how it takes 11 weeks to do this. There never seems to be anyone there whenever I go past.

Great fun... It's always "essential" when it's going to take ages and inconvenience everyone isn't it?
