Queen's Scout Award for Ranelagh pupil

March 17, 2010

A teenager has been given Scouting’s highest honour and has been invited to attend the St George’s Day Parade at Windsor Castle by the Queen.

Explorer Scout Katherine Walpole from Sandhurst was presented with the Queen’s Scout Award – the highest award in Scouting – on stage at the South East Berkshire Gang Show at South Hill Park in Birch Hill last week.

To get the award the 16-year-old, who goes to Ranelagh School in Bracknell, carried out a range of activities including an 80km hike over four days in Lancashire and Yorkshire, helping disabled young people and being a leader for 1st Sandhurst Beaver Colony.

To recognise the achievement the Queen has invited Katherine among other award winners to Windsor Castle for St George’s Day celebrations in April.
