ASBO pair banned from supermarket

March 15, 2010

Two 17-year-olds have been banned from a Winnersh supermarket until 2012 following repeated harassment of staff and customers.

The ASBOs stop Joshua Sofroniou and Luke White from going into Sainsbury’s and its car park in King Street Lane.

The boys also cannot be in public together or misbehave in any shops in Berkshire.

They were given the ASBOs at Maidenhead Magistrates’ Court for a litany of bad behaviour spreading over two years.

They are also forbidden from meeting or communicating in public, unless they are with the Youth Offending Service, police or the court.

A third boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also not allowed to have any contact with either of the pair.

PC Naomi Jolliffe, anti-social behaviour co-ordinator, said: “These ASBOs are as a result of repeated anti-social behaviour.

“[This] has been focused in local shops, which has resulted in staff and customers being harassed, alarmed and distressed by their behaviour.

Anyone who sees the youths breaching their ASBOs can call police on 08458 505 505 or the council on 0118 974 6000.

It may niot be that. There could be another court case ongoing involving boy 3 and sub judice prevents him from being named, quite rightly. Magna Carta was a hard fought for concession from a dominating ruler and the pricinples enshrined therein should not be surrendered without a major struggle.

What a waste Name and shame no matter the reason why If the kid's old enough to do the crime they are old enough to take the punishment and be named

If these boys deserve an ASBO, then surely those rogue shopping trolleys bumping into people's cars do too? Honestly, it's one rule for one person.....

Asbos may appear pointless but when breached can pretty much ensure a spell in the prison cells, what the police need is as much evidence as possible that these cronies are breaking the judges orders and off behind the iron bars they go!!
