Tory campaign website goes live

March 12, 2010

Reading West Tory hopeful Alok Sharma has launched his new website.

Mr Sharma said: “The www.aloksharma.co.uk website provides all the latest news and information to local residents about our campaigns and allows them to see what I have been doing in the constituency.

“It is good to get the website live and we will be adding additional features and content in the coming days and weeks.

“I would welcome any constructive feedback on the site from residents.”

He added: “I also send out a regular e-newsletter and anyone wanting to receive this can sign-up online.”

I'd go further than the Commonsense Party and suggest a freeze on immigration for at least two years, not least because we're in a recession. Chances are that most people leaving the UK were not a liability whilst they were here whereas many immigrants will be - in that their needs will exceed their tax contributions. Excessive demand on housing has created a situation where many indigenous young couples have been priced out of the market and if they do clamber on the property ladder, they certainly can't contemplate starting a family. Unfortunately, this has been used as an argument for more immigration, so perpetuating the vicious circle.

Holmium.......The HIP is recognised as an expensive waste of space by most people in the property business. If you want my opinion on why it exists , I would suggest that our beloved government created it to cover the fact that the EU was insisting on the EPC on every property bought, sold or rented, and to allow this fact into the public domain that would be political folly with a public already cheesed of with the European question. Therefore the government invented this wonderful way of 'helping' people to sell their homes, with the taxation spin off that they carry VAT , which because it is charged to individuals means that the government takes the lot! As regards immigration, it is quite true that there is free movement of labour between many European countries, but never ignore the fact that most immigration into the UK still comes from outside the EU, which is controllable. Contolling immigration is a necessity because this is only a small island and there has to be a limit! England ,where most immigrants head for , is now the 3rd most densely populated country on the planet. As for the Tories , I would advise them to come up with a rehashed version of Blair's old education slogan which could then read imigration, immigration, immigration. I sometimes wonder if DC wants to be PM at all! Keep checking out our website because we willsoon be putting up more stuff, some of it to do with the great new religion of 'climate change'.....that should keep you interested.

I will attempt answer a couple of the questions put forward by Howard Thomas of the Common Sense party though I am not a member or supporter of the Conservative party and in no way represent their views.

1. A Home Information Pack (HIP) is not the same as an Energy Performance Certificate. The Energy Performance Certificate forms only a small part of the ever expanding HIP. 2. If one would like to find out more about the housing or immigration policies of the Conservative party you can access the web site of Mr Sharma where you will find a link to the web site of the Conservative Party where their policies are detailed. 3. Should readers like to find out more about the policies of the Common Sense Party I invite you to look at their web site where you will find a wealth of information about immigration and Europe. However, you will find nothing about housing or the environment.

Concerning immigration, the UK is in Europe and we are very unlikely to leave even if the Conservatives do win the next election. Within Europe both capital and labour are allowed to flow freely across borders. By restricting either capital or labour the market will be skewed in favour of one or the other, ie, if capital can move to take advantage of cheap labour then to balance the market labour needs to be able to move to take advantage of higher salaries or indeed as so often is the case, any job on offer.

It was the great industrialist Henry Ford who pointed out that in order for a capitalist system to work effectively there needs to be the cheap and efficient movement of both capital and labour.

Perhaps either Alok or Rob would like to attempt to answer my questions................Given that the Tories have said that they will scrap the HIP, could someone please explain how this is going to be possible and still comply with the EU rule that every property bought, sold or rented must have an Energy Performance Certificate. Are we about to leave the EU ? or are we going to ignore the rules?

Secondly, Alok makes a point of being seen to back causes like the campaign to stop Pincents Hill from being developed. No problem there, but how about looking at the causes of the need to build more and more housing . What is the Tory party's policy on immigration Alok? A numerical answer would be good, preferably one that had a big fat zero in it . The CommonSense Party suggests that the best way to limit population growth is to limit the numbers of new arrivals at a figure no bigger than the number of people leaving the UK. What say you and your Conservative party Alok and Rob?

I'm expecting a Hugh comment on this one...

"Lib Dem voters must vote to prevent a tory win in Reading West which will give the conservatives a majority in the house of commons".........
