New home on the horizon for partnership

March 12, 2010

A board working to make Wokingham a better place for people with disabilities and their families has celebrated the opening of its new home.

The Wokingham Disability Partnership Board has a home of its own for the first time after it took up new offices at Support Horizons in Denmark Street last month.

The board includes representatives from the public, community and voluntary sectors as well as people with learning disabilities and their families.

It works to make life better for people with a learning disability in the borough and ensures the views of people are heard in the decisions affecting them.

Jodie Newman, development manager for the board, said: “We want to be open and easily accessible for all people, but that has not really been possible without our own home.

“Now we have a base, we will be able to start welcoming people in to find out what we do and to get involved.”
