A shining welcome on Kennetside

March 11, 2010

Lighting on Kennetside close to the Kennet Mouth has been welcome by the Green Party.

The new lights were installed as part of the council’s plans to upgrade the six columns from Kennet Mouth heading towards the town centre.

The area behind Newtown is particularly dark and the new lights will help improve visibility.

Rob White, Green Party candidate for Park ward, said: “While out door-knocking in Newtown a number of residents have asked about improvements to the lighting in the area. We have been passing these concerns and requests on to the council for a number of years and are pleased the council is finally reacting.

“While this is a step in the right direction, unfortunately we are still waiting for the upgrade to streetlights across the wider Newtown area. We will continue to press for this.”

might make it easier for the lookouts to spot PC Plod coming down the path. Or for the dealers to count out their ounces.
