Drugs helped user cope with bad news

March 10, 2010

A Katesgrove man who took crack cocaine to cope with the news that his granny was suffering from cancer has been given a community order.

Jason Sanders-Fox, 30, of Pell Street, was sentenced for possessing the Class A drug at Reading Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday. He admitted the charge at a previous hearing on February 10.

The court previously heard how Sanders-Fox had been stopped by police shortly after midnight on January 27. During a search officers found three wraps of crack in his socks, with a street value of £25.

Simon Hammudi, defending, said he had sought solace in the drug after learning his beloved nan had been taken to hospital and diagnosed with cancer.

Sanders-Fox was given a nine-month community order and ordered to take part in a drug rehab programme.

Woo hoo.. £25s worth for personal use.

The prosecution probably cost a lot more..Waste of police time and resources...

I wonder what his beloved nan feels at being used as an excuse for his drug taking.
