Deadline for Giving Tree donations tomorrowBy Victoria Corbett

Generous staff decided to replace Christmas cards with donations for getwokingham’s Giving Tree Appeal.
Employees at Perforce in Wellington Road, Wokingham, are among the many people who have supported our appeal by buying presents for needy local children.
Gifts are sent to children who may otherwise not receive a Christmas present or those who suf-fer from emotional and physical disabilities.
This is the second year Perforce has supported our appeal.
Fay Orchard, office manager at software company Perforce, said: “We wanted to do it again af-ter last year so we got in touch to ask if we could. People who give to it give very happily.”
Because the office is located at West Forest Gate, staff at other offices, such as Sourcefire, have pitched in as well.
Perforce took 50 tags to place on their office Christmas tree and all of these were snapped up by generous donators.
Newbury Building Society in Broad Street, Wokingham, is another place where staff and cus-tomers have been supporting the Giving Tree Appeal.
Business manager Nick Croxford said: “We’re delighted to support the appeal again this year; it’s a fantastic opportunity for us and our members to ensure the whole community has a great Christmas.
“The response this year has been as good as ever, so everything, from toy cars to craft sets, will be finding their way into stockings on Christmas morning.”
The deadline to return Giving Tree Appeal gifts is tomorrow.
Supporting the appeal could not be easier. Simply collect a tag from one of the many Giving Trees located in Wokingham and Bracknell.
On the tag will be a present idea, along with the child’s first name and age. Buy this present and return it unwrapped.
The appeal is made possible by volunteers and organisers from charities, who work hard to co-ordinate the tags and collect gifts to offer children a merrier Christmas.
Charities benefiting from this year’s appeal include Barnardo’s High Close School in Woking-ham, Home-Start Wokingham, which supports families with young children, and PACT.
Giving Trees are located in Tesco stores in Finchampstead Road, Wokingham, and Jigs Lane in Bracknell, Nirvana Spa in Sindlesham, Morrisons in Woosehill, Perforce in Wellington Road, the borough council offices in Shute End, Zappas hairdressers in Peach Street and Bean Oak Road and Newbury Building Society in Broad Street.
