Loddon Bridge Park and Ride to stay shut

December 01, 2009

Heavy rain forecast for tonight and rising river levels mean Loddon Bridge Park and Ride will remain shut tomorrow.

The Winnersh Triangle car park will stay closed for a third day after Wokingham Borough Council’s transport team decided it was still not safe to open it to drivers.

The team has been monitoring the high levels of neighbouring River Loddon.

Park and Ride stays closed

The area surrounding the banks of the Loddon has had an Environment Agency Flood Watch in place since yesterday.

On Monday commuters who had parked at the car park were urged to collect their cars following flooding fears.

Flooding fears close Park and Ride

A council spokeswoman said: “The situation will be reviewed again tomorrow and the park and ride will reopen as soon as water levels start to recede and there is no further threat of potential flooding.”

Cars stuck in world of water

In February dozens of cars were submerged in floodwaters at the car park after the Loddon burst it banks.
