Waingels College teacher has swine flu
July 01, 2009
A teacher at a Woodley school has been struck by swine flu.
The member of staff at Waingels College in Denmark Avenue has been confirmed as suffering from the virus.
A letter has been sent to pupils and parents and the school will remain open.
Principal Richard Green said: “We are working closely with the Health Protection Agency following the news that a member of staff at the college has contracted Swine Influenza.
“In line with advice from the Health Protection Agency the college will not be closing at this time.”
The news follows two other schools who this week confirmed its pupils had contracted the disease.
Yesterday, a student at Kendrick School in London Road was confirmed as suffering from the virus and on Monday Leighton Park School in Shinfield Road announced a pupil had also contracted the disease.
Health advice on swine flu can be found by calling the information line on 0800 1513 513.
