Sandford Farm inquiry begins

June 23, 2009

A planning inquiry into the controversial Sandford Farm development plan in Woodley starts today.

Woodley Develpoment LTD wants to build a mini-town with 492 homes on the former landfill site.

The inquiry into the plans, which was rejected by Wokingham Borough Council, will be held at the Oakwood Centre in Headley Road, Woodley, and is expected to last six days.

The proposal, which faces stern opposition from neighbours, also includes a 150-unit retirement centre as well as community and commercial buildings.

Protestors have formed the Loddon Valley Action Group to fight the plan and will have representation at the inquiry.

They have so far managed to raise just over £10,000 of the £15,000 they need to fund their legal representation.

Woodley Development LTD decided to go to appeal after council bosses rejected the plan in January.
