Spate of grave thefts in Wargrave

June 22, 2009

Families of deceased loved ones have been left distraught after a series of grave thefts in Wargrave.

Police are now urging witnesses to come forward following a spate of plant and container thefts from Braybrooke Road Cemetery.

Police Community Support Officer Jackie Daniels, of the Wargrave neighbourhood policing team, said: “Over the past few months there have been several incidents reported where plants have been taken from the ground, and from containers placed at graves.

“This is extremely upsetting for the family members, and the neighbourhood team is appealing for information. Have you seen anyone unfamiliar in the area or suspicious vehicles that looked out of place?”

Residents of Braybrooke Road will receive a hand delivered letter through thwir doors asking for their help in catching whoever is responsible.

Anyone with any information should contact police on 0845 8 505 505, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or speak to one of your neighbourhood officers.
