Flags flew at half-mast in Wokingham in remembrance of two soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Corporal Dean John and Corporal Graeme Stiff, both of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), died in Helmand Province in Afghanistan on Sunday, March 15.

As a mark of respect for the two Arborfield-trained soldiers, he flags at Wokingham Town Hall were lowered for 48 hours at the weekend.

The soldiers, who are freemen of Wokingham, were killed while travelling in a patrol vehicle struck by a roadside bomb.

They were both members of the Light Aid Detachment of 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards.

Their bodies were brought back to the country on Saturday.

Corporal John, 25, passed out of basic training at Arborfield Garrison in August 2000.

Corporal Stiff, 24, joined REME in 2004 and became an electronics technician.
