Denmark Street closure update

By Victoria Corbett
March 09, 2009

Two Wokingham town centre roads will remain closed during this afternoon’s rush hour but one will reopen later this evening

Denmark Street will reopen at 9pm tonight, however Langborough Road will remain closed until 2pm tomorrow while Thames Water engineers fix two collapsed sewers.

Delays are still expected along Denmark Street as temporary traffic lights will be in place near its roundabout junction with Wellington Road until 2pm tomorrow.

The closures, which began on Saturday, have caused long delays for drivers heading through the town, with some motorists reporting traffic backed up along London Road to the A329.

   A) London Road IS the A329, so you mean the A329(M), and B) the traffic was backed up for about 1/2 mile on the motorway and all the way back past the Binfield/Travellodge traffic lights when I passed it at gone 9am, not just on to the London Road. The traffic lights with Binfield Road always cause some backlog on that road in the rush hour anyway, but not normally past Loch Fyne. To block the motorway was actually causing significant disruption to many people, not just those going to Wokingham
