Young people praised for setting up Norreys club

March 05, 2009

A hangout for teenagers on the Norreys estate could become  the “best club around”, say its founders.

The community flat at 17 Eustace Crescent is being transformed into a weekly youth club on Wednesday evenings with help from the teens living on the estate.

It will provide entertainment for young people aged between 13 and 16, every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm.

Young people on the estate have helped bring the project to life.

The teens behind the club include Adam Lee and Daniel Penn, who have worked with community development worker Candice Wright to get funding, which will pay for a part-time youth worker for a year.

A tuck shop, laptops and computer games are just some of the facilities on offer.

Daniel said: “We cannot wait to make this the best club around!”

Adam, 14, said it would solve the long-standing problem of a lack of activities for young people in Norreys.
