Borough low for bad road injuries – survey

November 17, 2008

Drivers in Wokingham are among the least likely to be killed or injured in road accidents in the South East, according to a new survey.

The table of areas detailing serious and fatal accidents released by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) places the town 14th in a list of 19 areas.

Drivers in Wokingham had 59 serious accidents in 2007, which equates to nearly four people in every 10,000 being involved.

Top of the list was Reading, with just 38 serious accidents and 2.6 people involved.

Liz Cavan, chairman of council at the CSP, said: “The main message here is that prevention is better than cure.”
