Stolen dog found

October 13, 2008

A dog that had been stolen from its kennel was found by police during a search at a house in Shinfield.

Detectives found the Staffordshire bull terrier at the home in Chestnut Avenue after executing a theft warrant.

The black and white dog was found on Thursday, a day after it had been taken from its kennel during a break-in at the garden shed of his owners' home in Spencers Wood.

Acting sergeant Chris Harrison, of Wokingham Police, said officers targeted the home in Shinfield after receiving intelligence from the community following a spate of burglaries.

“This is a real result and a quick response to the recent burglaries in the area," he said.

“Following a spate of burglaries in the area, intelligence gathered from the community resulted in two theft warrants being executed at addresses in Shinfield [on Thursday] which led to the recovery of property and the dog which is now happily reunited with its rightful owner."

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods follow-ing the warrant.

She was bailed to report to Loddon Valley police station on October 29.
