A teenage boy from Wokingham is one of 12 people who were arrested this morning in a police swoop focusing on an alleged burglary gang.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a burglary, which took place at an address in Winnersh in July, as part of Surrey Police’s Operation Shield.

A total of 12 raids took place early this morning and officers raided eight addresses in north Surrey, as well as the one in Woking-ham.

Three more arrests were made in Surrey and south west London.

A decision whether to charge the boy is likely to be made tomorrow morning.

The operation was launched last week to try to tackle offenders from outside Surrey but today’s raids focused solely on the suspected gang.
