Former churchgoers invited back to the pewBy Alice Murphy

Thousands of people are being encouraged to return to the fold on Sunday, September 28, for Back to Church Sunday.
It is a day for potential churchgoers to be welcomed back into the fold and has been organised by the Diocese of Oxford.
The congregations of All Saints in Wiltshire Road and St Paul's in Reading Road will be taking part, although their days will be celebrated on Sunday, November 16.
The Reverend John Connell, from St Paul's Church, brought Back to Church Sunday to Wokingham several years ago. It has been such a success that the whole diocese now takes part.
He said: “We welcome anybody and everybody. We begin by inviting the congregation to bring a friend or neighbour, then we go through the register of baptisms and weddings and send the people invitations.
“We send out a welcome pack to invite them to learn more about the Christian faith.”
