Troublemakers kicked out of town centre pub

3/ 9/2008

The new tenants of a Wokingham pub say they are determined to stamp out troublemakers.

John and Christine Hibbert have taken over the Hope & Anchor in Station Road, expanding their Wokingham pub empire.

The couple are already tenants at The Emmbrook Inn in Emmbrook Road and hope their good reputation will make their latest venture a success.

The Hope & Anchor had been plagued by problems and in February police found traces of drugs on the toilet  floors and hand driers during a series of visits to town centre pubs.

Now, Mr Hibbert, who is the chairman of Wokingham’s Pubwatch scheme, has warned he will not tolerate any illegal behaviour while he is running the pub.
