Firefighters reunite mum and baby

August 26, 2008

A mother accidentally locked herself out of her home, leaving her two-day-old baby stranded inside alone last week.

Firefighters from Wokingham Fire Station were called to a flat at Woosehill Court in Emmview Close at 12.15pm on Friday afternoon after the woman had popped out of the front door, which then closed and locked behind her.

Firefighter Brett Humphrey explained how the parent had spent 10 minutes trying to get into the home with a coat hanger before calling for the emergency services.

The crew, who rushed to the scene from a family fun day at The Holt School in Holt Lane, used ladders to get into the home through an open window, which Mr Humphrey said took about five minutes, before mother and baby were reunited.

“She was very pleased to be back with her baby,” he said.
