It’s bronze glory for town athlete

20/ 8/2008

Super Saturday gave Wokingham even more reason than most to feel proud of Team GB  - one of the Olympic medal winners lives in the town.

Years of training have paid off for Anna Bebington, 25, who won bronze alongside Elise Laverick in the women’s double scull in Beijing on Saturday.

It was her first Olympics and, having overcome glandular fever last winter, she said she was overjoyed with her medal.

Former Wokingham residents Andy Triggs Hodge was also among Team GB's Beijing 2008 winners after his coxless crew of Peter Reed, Tom James and Steve Williams won goold.
