Trading Standards failing to hit premise inspection targets

A change in the law means Wokingham Trading Standards is failing to inspect nearly half of its target premises in the borough.
Statistics of the performance of Trading Standards show Wokingham Borough Council’s target percentage of inspections that should have been carried out by the team is 80 per cent for this year to date.
The actual figure achieved is 44 per cent, which the council says is down to a change in the national system which means more premises, such as restaurants and shops, fall into the category which needs to be inspected.
