Eatery says ‘spat’ forced ban on dogs

By Natalie Slater

Dog owners who regularly walk their pooches to sit and enjoy lunch al fresco at The Courtyard restaurant will be turned away after a new ban on dogs this summer.

The popular eatery, which is favoured for its outside dining area in Market Place, used to attract many customers who would sit with their dogs outside while enjoying the sunshine.

But after a recent spat between two dogs in the dining area three weeks ago, the proprietor and manager have made the decision to put a blanket ban on dogs.

Manager Tony Wise told this week's Wokingham Times having to introduce the ban was a heart-breaking decision but many customers had felt uneasy after the incident and he had to accommodate everyone.

Dog owners who are regualrs at the town centre venue say they are disapointed at the ban but wil still visit.
