Town centre bank raid

The Halifax Building Society in Wokingham town centre was the target of a cash raid this morning.

The building society, in Market Place, was left with a smashed-in door after raiders broke in at 12.30am on Thursday, May 15. 

The robbers forced their way into the bank as security staff were delivering money to the bank, Wokingham Police said this monirng.

They threatened the security officers, before taking an undisclosed sum of money.

Police are now looking for a dark Volkswagen Golf, last seen in Pale Lane in Winchfield, Hampshire, at 1.30am.

Det Sgt Carl Bradford, from Loddon Valley CID said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen people or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area before the incident or who saw the offenders leave the town centre afterwards.

“Any information, no matter how small, could be vital in tracing these two men.”
