Warning over fake £20 notes

By Alice Murphy
April 30, 2008

FAKE £20 notes are circulating in shops and pubs around Wokingham.

The paper used to print the notes is thicker than the real thing, with obvious faults in the ink if they are examined.

Sergeant Christina Berenger, from Wokingham police, said: “The ones I have seen are poor quality and the design is not very good. Don’t take them as change and inform the shop if you get one.

“Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 too because we need as much information as possible.”

People with counterfeit notes are asked to hand them in at a bank, be vigilant and examine all paper money.
