Riding for Mrs Roberts

April 21, 2008

Two school friends clowned around to raise money in memory of a much-loved teacher.

Year 11 Holt School pupils Rachael Job and Megan Morris, both aged 15, cycled to Reading in aid of leukaemia research last Tuesday.

Their teacher Shirley Roberts, who taught textiles and maths, died from the disease on Wednesday, March 19.

They donned clown suits, and friends met them on the way to support their efforts.

Rachael said: “The pupils all went to her with their problems. The headteacher was really happy that we were doing this and said it was good to get involved. She sponsored us £10.”
