A dangerous road where five people have died in the last six years will have its speed reduced.

Campaigners have been calling for the speed limit on Sandhurst Road to be reduced and better safety measures to be put in place for years.

They have finally claimed a partial victory, as Wokingham Borough Council’s highways department has agreed to reduce the speed limit from 50mph to 40mph along a 500-metre stretch.

But Finchampstead Parish Council has registered its disappointment at the reduction not covering the whole road.
