Medical centre is delayed

19/ 3/2008

The opening of a new village medical centre has been postponed following problems with contractors fitting electrical works in the facility.

The state-of-the-art Shinfield Medical Centre was due to open on Tuesday, March 25, but this has been cancelled.

Helen Mackenzie, deputy chief executive of Berkshire West PCT, said: “I am disappointed to report that one of the contractors working on the Shinfield Medical Centre has not been able to complete their work on site.

“We are working hard to appoint new contractors to finish the remaining electrical work and hope to have more news about when the new NHS facility will be opening shortly.

“The new Shinfield Medical Centre will be a real asset to the local population.”
