Top Tory to quit

28/ 2/2008

COUNCIL leader Frank Browne last week confirmed he is to step down in May, to pursue “a new set of challenges”.

Rumours Cllr Browne was planning to quit Wokingham Borough Council have circulated in recent weeks, although he denied this in a recent phone conversation with The Wokingham Times.

He will quit not only as leader of the Conservatives in May, but will also not stand for re-election as a councillor.
