Footballers score a victory over Cantley Park stand

21/ 2/2008

Wokingham and Emmbrook Football Club will be coming home to Cantley Park after controversial plans for a new stand, pitch and floodlights were given the green light.

Despite protests from residents, Cantley House Hotel and Wokingham Theatre over noise, traffic and anti-social behaviour, Wokingham Borough Council's planning committee gave the go-ahead to the plans at a meeting on Wednesday night.

Depending on a report from the Environment Agency, the plans will see a stand big enough for 250 people built at the site, as well as a premier pitch, improved parking, a public address system and improved car parking.

See next week's Wokingham Times for full coverage of the decision.
