Flooding as ‘serious as terrorism’ – Pitt review

19/12/2007

Victims of the July floods have been urged to brace themselves for similar disasters in the future, as many of those affected prepare to spend Christmas out of their homes.
Residents in Sylvester Close and Robin Hood Way, Winnersh, Langley Common Road, Arborfield, and Luckley Wood, Wokingham, are among those still living in rented accommodation, caravans or with friends five months after torrential rainfall devastated their homes.
Many are carrying out their own investigations into the cause of the floods and have made calls to the Government and the Environment Agency to make sure action is taken as soon as possible to prevent the severe damage happening again.
