An investigation has been launched into an overspend by Wokingham Borough Council on a project in Woosehill.
Council bosses are unhappy at an additional £388,500 having to be added to the cost of the Acorn Centre project in Woosehill Lane.
Council leader Cllr Frank Browne said the council “wasn’t entirely happy” about the overspend and an investigation has been launched.
The council was forced to come up with the extra money for centre, which is nearly built, otherwise it could not have opened due to “unforeseen problems requiring groundwork,” according to a spokesman.
It was decided to agree the money then conduct the investigation once the centre, which provides facilities for children with learning disabilities, was open.
With the extra cash, the project will now cost £1,414,125.
