Harrowing book highlights town’s drug underbelly

A book charting the harrowing experience of twins struggling with heroin addiction has highlighted the seedier side of Wokingham.
Elizabeth Burton-Phillips’ story of how her sons Nick and Simon descended in to drug addiction has shown how easy it is for an addict to buy Class A drugs in the borough.
A former drug addict, who used drugs heavily for 16 years, has told The Wokingham Times he could buy a hit of crack or heroin for £10 within minutes in Wokingham.
The man, who does not want to be identified but lives in the borough, has been clean [free from drugs] for three and a half years, although he admits having experienced some relapses in this time.
He knew Nick and Simon and all three would buy and use drugs together.
The addict said: “People in Wokingham would not believe it if they knew what was going on."
