OAP took his own life after child sex charge

A pensioner hanged himself the day after he was charged with a sex attack on a young boy.

John Hill, from Earley, was discovered hanging from an open attic over the landing at his home on Friday, March 16, an inquest into his death heard last Thursday.

Police confirmed on Thursday the 75-year-old, from Palmerstone Road, had been charged on March 15 with one count of sexual assault on a male child under the age of 13, on February 22 this year.

At the inquest at Windsor Guildhall, Berkshire coroner Peter Bedford said Mr Hill had been remanded on bail before he was found dead.
