2,600 homes and shops left without power

By Victoria Corbett

Repeated power cuts wreaked havoc in more than 2,000 town centre shops and homes this weekend.

And hundreds of homes in Barkham were left without power on Friday and Saturday morning after vandals tampered with a back-up generator twice.

The power cuts in Wokingham town centre left shop workers apologising for delays with tills and lighting.

The loss of electricity happened several times between 9am and 10am on Saturday.
