Truancy court cases double

The number of families facing court over their children’s truanting from Wokingham schools has nearly doubled so far this year.
Wokingham Borough Council is currently taking legal action against four families over poor school attendance.
And since September 2006 there have been a further four cases which have gone through court where school attendance has dropped below acceptable levels.
This is compared to the
previous year, from September 2005 to September 2006, when five cases in total reached court.
