Gun cops called over partygoer’s belt buckle

By Victoria Corbett

Armed police surrounded a teenager’s birthday party after revellers mistook a gun-shaped belt buckle for a real revolver.

Officers and an armed response vehicle camped outside Winnersh Community Centre after a partygoer reported seeing a gun.

But the crisis was resolved without a shot being fired after police established the revolver, which looked as though it was on a holster with the barrel tucked into a pocket, was in fact a belt buckle.

Sgt Mike Cull, of Wokingham police, said the “gun” was first spotted by a 10-year-old boy at the 18th birthday party at the community centre in New Road, Sindlesham, on Saturday night.
