Jailed drunk promised a home before Christmas

By Samantha Colyer

A homeless drunk has been sent to prison to stop his ‘annoying behaviour’ in Finchampstead.

Vagrant Steven Harwood’s drunken antics have included putting barbed wire on the road to force cars to stop, loitering in his underwear, swearing, urinating, and going to areas he is banned from by an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO), Reading Crown Court heard last Friday.

Harwood, 55, was sentenced to nine months in jail but Judge Christopher Critchlow told him he should be free by Christmas as he has already been in prison while on remand.
