New landlord glassed weeks after taking over town pub

A WOKINGHAM landlord was left scarred for life after a pint glass was smashed into his face by a yob who had been refused service on Friday night.
Just three weeks after arriving in the town the new landlord of The Redan, Andy Rogers, has been left with a gash wound to his right cheek that will never heal.
Mr Rogers was attacked at about 10pm after his girlfriend Kim Charman, who is the Peach Street pub’s landlady, refused to serve a male who looked under age.
After realising the yob was leaving the pub with a glass in his hand, Mr Rogers followed him to demand he leave the potential weapon in the bar – only to have it shoved in his face, slashing his cheek and narrowly missing his eye.
A shocked Mr Rogers told The Wokingham Times how both he and his girlfriend have worked in pubs in Leeds for 12 years without running into any trouble but this attack
happened after just three weeks in Wokingham.
But he is not prepared to let one incident drive him away from the town.
