'GANG WARFARE' FEARS OVER NEW YOUTH SHELTERSBy Alana Razzell

FEARS that gang warfare could break out in Woosehill have been raised after it was announced two youth shelters would be built in the area this summer.
Teenagers in Woosehill have been requesting a place to hang-out with their friends for several months and Wokingham District Council has said it will create two shelters in the area by the end of the summer.
But concerns have been raised the shelters could be used as gangs’ territories as tensions between rival teenagers from Woosehill and Winnersh have already been escalating in the area.
Members of a Wokingham Youth Conference earlier this month heard how groups of teens were travelling to Woosehill and congregating in Morrisons car park and around the Heron Road area – a popular location for Woosehill teens to hang around.
Many of the groups are heading in from the Winnersh area although police and street wardens are working with local teens to find out exactly where they are from and what they can do to alleviate the situation.
